What do we do when there is nothing to do?  How can it be that there is nothing to do?  Or don’t  we  understand something about life, our goals and ultimate purpose of our existence? There was a guy who once asked a question on one of many Christian forums: “If you know that you are saved, why does God not take you to Heaven right after your baptism when you already professed your faith?” One of the forum’s merry fellows said: “Oh yes! Let the new believers not come out of the water! Let them drown right there so they can enter Heaven as fast as possible”

Though the answer is funny, the question is very important for modern Christianity.  Are you a Christian? So… how would you answer?

Are you men of earnest mind? Are you prepared for action in God’s noble work, and fitted to bear responsibilities? Do you have an  uncorrupted heart, and strong and brave character? Are you a God’s blessing to the humanity? Do you know that all of it God wants and can produce in you if you allow Him?

Be wise, and consider what will be the result of leading a wild life, uncontrolled by the Spirit of God. “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption.”

For your soul’s sake, for Christ’s sake, who gave Himself to save you from ruin, pause on the threshold of your life, and weigh well your responsibilities, your opportunities, your possibilities. God has given you an opportunity to fill a high destiny. Your influence may tell for the truth of God; you may be a co-laborer with God in the great work of human redemption….

See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise,  redeeming the time, because the days are evil.   Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

The world would revile the gospel because of the inconsistent lives of false professors. Even Christians would be caused to stumble as they saw that many who bore Christ’s name were not controlled by His Spirit.

 

Because these sinners were in the church, men would be in danger of thinking that God excused their sins. But Christ bids all to behold that it is character, not position, which decides man’s destiny.
